Mac external display support for KVM setups.
Compare Apple’s published native external-display limits before choosing a KVM. A KVM can switch signals the Mac can produce; it cannot increase the Mac’s native display count.

How to read this matrix
Native external displays is the host limit published by Apple. Published uniform 4K ceiling is the highest refresh KVMChecker has recorded when that number of 4K displays is used uniformly. Mixed display arrangements can have different limits, so follow the Apple source and the relevant configuration guide for exact topologies.
Do not assume a Windows-style DisplayPort MST splitter creates additional independent Mac desktops. The host limit, output topology, KVM, adapters, cables and displays all have to support the target arrangement.

Evidence policy
Every row is generated from KVMChecker’s Apple host dataset and links to a primary Apple technical specification or support page. Where Apple publishes asymmetric or topology-specific display modes, the matrix stays conservative and points to the source rather than generalising beyond it.
