The practical answer

Use a dual-output HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 KVM and treat 4K144 as an end-to-end Display Stream Compression (DSC) requirement. The MacBook Pro needs two independent high-bandwidth display outputs, usually through suitable Thunderbolt adapters or a dock that exposes two native streams.
