The practical answer

Use a Mac-aware dual-display path. The cleanest current match uses two USB-C ports on the MacBook Air, avoiding Multi-Stream Transport (MST) and DisplayLink. A Thunderbolt-oriented alternative works at dual 4K60, but its 60W charging may not cover heavy sustained loads.
